Rustic Patio Furniture
A Great Outdoorsy Choice

Rustic patio furniture has a unique look to it and can be a great choice.

This type of outdoor furniture is handmade and blends in well with the natural outdoors. It's not made in a factory as many other types are. You can see the knots and twists of the wood that were there naturally which gives it that outdoorsy feel.

Since it is not finished as other types of outdoor furniture woods are, many people even attempt to make it themselves. But don't worry, there are places to purchase it too!

Rustic Patio Furniture is handmade.

Hickory, pine, cypress and cedar are some of the woods that rustic furniture might be made from. Pine has many knots, but it is also a soft wood and rustic pine furniture will deteriorate the quickest. Cedar is long lasting, beautiful and insect resistant. Depending on the type of cedar, it also can have a nice aroma.

Sometimes slight cracking, or checking, will appear, but that's the nature of the wood. It rarely goes all the way through, had nothing to do with the structure, and actually provides character. In addition, all pieces of rustic home furniture are different from each other…no two are the same…how unique!

I bought some rustic outdoor dining chairs many years ago, pictured above. I found an old pine table and I have used this set for almost ten years. I currently have it on my covered porch and it really is different than most outdoor dining furniture that you see.
