Landscape Dreams

by Susan Schlenger
(Virginia)

As a landscape designer, I both design and see many landscapes. And yes, there are some that I say "I wish I had that".

I would like a medium size pond set in a very natural setting. It would have multiple waterfalls that I could see from my office. When I went out on my porch, I would also be able to see it and just as important...listen to soothing water.

I would have lots of trees....ornamentals with different flowering times throughout the season and large shade trees with spectacular fall color.

My landscape would include lush and colorful perennials with lots of color. Perhaps they would surround a beautiful stone patio which has a pergola for a sense of intimacy and shade.

The property would have fabulous mountain views and there would be a sitting area to take advantage of the scene. I could sit there in the mornings with my coffee and see the sunsets. I would sit there right before dusk, enjoying the end of the day and the sunset.

I think I'll dream on.
